Within the Yoruba worldview, all things are conscious and alive, imbued with spirit; everything upon the earth and in the universe possesses its own awareness and energy (asé). Spirituality in the African indigenous worldview is intentional in how it empowers people to live authentically. It asks us to question
“How might my reality change if I took up space, embraced more of my multifaceted expression as a divine spiritual being having a human experience ?”
Isese (tradition) is a powerful means of empowerment for the full spectrum of human beings, cis-het to queer people, we are all encouraged to be fully aware of our presence in the universe, to embrace and understand our purpose while acknowledging all the other elements and spirits and Orishas that make up the infiniteness of the universe.
Spiritual reclamation work supports you in reconnecting with aspects of your soul and spirit, this can be seen as root work and soul retrieval. It encompasses embodied practises and rituals for reconnection with your lineage history, ancestors (egungun), lineage traditions, building a relationship with the Orisa and honouring our Iyami Osoranga (divine mothers), to find solutions that relate to the human spirit & the human condition. Along the way, reconnecting and reclaiming to our forgotten histories, narratives, rituals and traditions we find we are met with celestial support that improves our lives.
These improvements can be seen as ‘ blessings’ that concern aspects of your daily life- home (ile), profession or means (owo/aje), a long life (aiku), spouse or partner (oko/aya), children/legacy (omo) and victory or overcoming obstacles (isegun), aligning with your destiny and achievement of good character (iwa pele).
We become more empowered and liberated when we integrate all of our parts, which include the aspects we are unconscious of which live in our shadow and those we have become disconnected from which we must retrieve from the spirit realms.
This work is an alchemical process, that requires embodied practise, commitment and reverence. Each of us is on a unique path, as such I will meet you where ever you are on your journey, we will discuss aspects such as ebo,
which are offerings (ancestral/orisa) and sacrifices (the cessation of behaviors that are counterproductive to the attainment of one’s destiny/alignment with your higher self/consciousness -iwa pele/ori), required to sustain this process of reconnection and renewal.
Spiritual reclamation support with me begins with an initial consultation via email and a scheduled preliminary call to assess where you are at so I can shaped and gather the appropriate resources (supportive self guided materials) and schedule for you to begin your process.
The commitment is for x4 sessions (1.5hr video calls) in total which can be scheduled fortnightly or monthly. These sessions will comprise of education, sharing, reflection, story-telling and guided experiential practise. Each video call will be accompanied with a sum up checklist, additional resources and self-directed spirtual study/practise.
As well as our four 1.5hour video calls (one-2-one) you will be supported via email/voice/text notes with weekly checkins along your journey.
